Uyuni Two Day Tour

DAY 1
​
You need to arrive at the tour company office at 9.30a.m.
After kitting you out in your riding gear, we head off to the old historic mining town of Pulacayo.
​
We will explore the town learning about the history of this famous old mine. Afterwards we will ride back to Uyuni to take our lunch at the Sal Negro restaurant.
​
After lunch we will head towards Colchani where we can learn about the salt processing and have a chance to buy some souvenirs made completely from salt.

We then head to the Salt Flats themselves and ride across the great white desert toward the village of Jirira where we can see Volcano Thunupa towering above us.
Here we will spend the night in a hostel made of salt. After taking tea or coffee we walk down to the edge of the salar to see the llamas and flamingos and take photos of the sunset.
Evening meal at 19.00.

DAY 2
​
Today we will wake up and have breakfast at 8.00.
After we will ride up the volcano to see the 1000 year old mommies in a cave.
From here we have great views over the Salar. Back on the bikes we ride to Chantani, where we visit the museum and interesting sculpture garden.

Next we are off to Tauhau and then back on to the Salar. Riding around some magical islands, then to visit the famous Isla Incahuasi / Fish Island where we can explore and see the giant cacti, which sometimes reach over 10 meters tall. There are wonderful views of the salt desert from here and also you can buy lunch in the restaurant "Mongos" located on the island.
After lunch we explore the salt flats some more with lots of chance to take photos. We will return to Uyuni and go to see the Train Cemetery with all the abandoned steam trains.
We return to the office where the tour ends. Times vary depending on the group, usually between 16.30 a.m. to 17.30 a.m., in time if you have a night bus (or a late flight back to La Paz on the same day).
